Max's Market
“God Bless the Internet,” is all Patricia Cioppa and husband Michele Marangella can say. They get
goose bumps when they try to consider life without the Internet. It could very well have meant a life
without Max. And the thought of that is something the Marangella family refuses to even consider.
It all started as a perfectly normal pregnancy for the Marangellas in September of 2000. Patricia and
Michele were the happy parents of a beautiful five-year old daughter Ellie and eagerly awaited the news
of their next child’s health and gender. In November, prenatal genetic testing told the couple that they
were to expect a healthy baby boy in late May of 2001.
The Marangella family have a large extended family in Italy and had already latched onto the Internet as
an excellent way to keep touch with family and friends overseas. But email wasn’t good enough to
deliver the news of their future son, so Patricia called Michele via telephone when she received the good
report. Michele was in Italy for business and was able to share the news with family and friends he
was visiting at the time.
However, the joy across both sides of the globe ground to heart-stopping halt a mere three months
later...
It's a Girl Thing
Flying high over the Vegas strip, a little nagging fear began to creep towards
the forefront of Heather Lambie’s thoughts. What if we don’t click? What if it’s
awkward in person? What if Peter is right?
The last ‘what if’ seemed the most unlikely, but still, all possibilities must be
considered. Heather, just a few months married to Peter, had ventured far
away from Miami, Florida to join up with strangers in Las Vegas. Strangers
she had met on the Internet...
When Life Hands You Milk...Make Soap!
When your landlord has a barn full of goats, you get goat milk. And even when you have an
infant who drinks her fair share, you’re likely to have left over milk. But when Leslie and
Jesse and their landlord Jack realized that there was far more milk available than there were
mouths to drink it, they began to hatch a plan to avoid dumping it down the drain.
What came of their brainstorming was this idea; why don’t we make soap? It was soon agreed
that Jack would supply the necessary supplies and equipment and manage finances while
Leslie would make the soap. But where did that leave fiancée Jesse? Well, he works outside
the home supporting the family so he became the advertising manager. In short, he tells
everybody he meets about the soap Leslie makes.
But while it was a good idea to begin with, simply deciding to do it was just that--the
beginning. First Leslie had to learn how to make soap, and more specifically, how to make
goat milk soap. With milk coming in daily, there was no time to waste, so she turned to the
quickest and most reliable resource available on the planet: the Internet...
